High in the lush highlands of Yirgacheffe, where warm tropical days give way to cool, misty nights, the story of Ethiopian Sunrise begins.

The Halo Beriti Washing Station, established in 2014, is tucked into this landscape of dense vegetation and fertile soils. Here, 750 smallholder farmers—many of whom tend tiny plots shaded by enset and fruit trees—bring their freshly picked cherries by hand, often carried in baskets woven generations ago.

Yirgacheffe is a name that has become almost mythic among coffee lovers. Its coffees are celebrated worldwide for their striking notes of ripe blueberry and their complex, layered sweetness. This land, rich with heirloom Ethiopian varieties, offers ideal growing conditions: elevations ranging from 2,100 to 2,300 meters above sea level, organically managed farms, and a natural process that brings the vibrant fruit character forward.

This particular lot is the result of a special preparation, where meticulous hand-sorting was performed again and again throughout receiving and drying—ensuring only the finest cherries made it to the final bags. After sorting, the coffee is laid on raised beds to dry slowly under the Ethiopian sun, developing its distinctive profile.
