Nestled in the rolling hills of Carmo de Minas, Brazil, Fazenda Sertão is more than a coffee farm—it’s the living legacy of a family whose passion has shaped the region’s reputation for exceptional coffees.
In 1949, Jose Isidro Pereira, a dentist-turned–coffee grower, left his practice to tend the land he inherited from his mother. Together with his beloved wife, Nazareth, he planted the seeds—literally and figuratively—of what would become one of Brazil’s most respected farms. Today, Nazareth and their children continue the tradition, cultivating Yellow Bourbon trees alongside bananas, corn, and dairy livestock on the farm’s 850 hectares.
Yellow Bourbon itself is a story of bold vision. In the 1990s, our partners took an unprecedented leap—paying a premium price far above the going rate for Brazilian coffees. The reason? A cup that revealed sweet chocolate and orange notes unlike anything else from the region. Those early harvests set a new benchmark for what Brazilian coffees could be, and inspired the program that brings you this elevated offering today.
Every lot is traceable to specific farms and varieties. Here, the focus is on quality over volume: careful harvesting, natural processing under the Brazilian sun, and cupping for the distinct fruit character and rich, mellow sweetness that define this coffee.
There’s purpose beyond the cup, too. A social premium from every purchase helps fund CriaCarmo—a youth initiative founded by our export partner CarmoCoffees. Through CriaCarmo, children from local coffee-farming families receive educational support and access to sports and cultural activities like futbol, karate, and chess, building brighter futures alongside their parents’ harvests.
When these meticulously prepared beans arrive at LionRush, our commitment to craft takes over. Each small batch is roasted fresh to order, unlocking deep notes of sweet berry, smooth milk chocolate, and a gentle, nutty finish.

We believe trust is earned through transparency. That’s why we third party test every batch of green coffee we purchase, so you can feel confident in what you’re taking. Scan the QR code to view the full report.
